Your Half Term Update from Global Academy
Industry Partners Update - July 2024
Well, another academic year has ended—time certainly flies! ✨
During this last half term, we've collaborated with fantastic partners on exciting projects that have kickstarted the careers of our learners. In addition, we’ve hosted workshops on securing apprenticeships and jobs, helped create CVs, developed personal brands, and prepared students for their next steps into Sixth Form, University, Further Training, or the world of work.
As the academy takes a break for the summer, we’ll be busy behind the scenes planning a variety of projects, partnerships, and initiatives for the next academic year, particularly with the launch of our new Media and Digital T Level courses.
If you’d like to get involved or learn more about working with Global Academy, please email [email protected]. I look forward to hearing from you.
Have a great summer and thank you for your ongoing support with Global Academy. Together, we will kickstart the careers of young people in the creative industry.

T Level Placement Programme Kicks OffIn June, we launched our 'Placement Programme' with our Year 12 Technical Class as a preview for the upcoming placements required for our T Level learners in June 2025. We collaborated with Global, IMG, CNN, ITV, EMG, Envy, RaceTech, Sunset and Vine, and AE Live to pilot the project. Students participated in live broadcasts, events, content projects, post-production work, and more! They will complete their second placement in September. Our Media and Digital T Level programmes combine classroom learning with a 45-day industry placement for practical, hands-on experience. We are eager to collaborate with more Media, IT and digital employers and creative industry teams. If you're interested, please get in touch! |
Global Academy Gets Creative at FestivalThis half term, 25 of our Year 12 students joined the production team for the UK Creative Festival in Margate. They worked in production crews, speaker management, stage management, social media, and more. One student said, "I’ve loved working on the UK Creative Festival for the past 2 days - it has been a really valuable and enjoyable experience." The Global Academy team also ran workshops, provided career advice, and offered guidance at the careers fair and networking sessions for over 1000 local young people across the southeast. |
We Have an Opportunity to Redefine the Way we Teach Creativity
Warner Brothers Workshop Day Inspires Students
A few of our Year 13 students had an unforgettable day with Warner Brothers, diving into the epic world of House of the Dragon! They had the chance to learn from the show's co-creator Ryan Condal and other talented crew members about what it takes to bring such a monumental series to life.
This hands-on experience gave them a deeper understanding of the various roles in TV production. Future TV creators in the making! 🎬✨
ITV Challenge Students to Re-Create TV Show
We worked closely with the team at ITV Academy and Lifted Entertainment, producers of popular shows like Love Island, I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!, Dancing on Ice, and Hell’s Kitchen to set a challenge for our Content Production students.
This collaboration provided our students with unique insights and hands-on experience in the industry. They had the opportunity to engage in various aspects of multi camera production and editing, enhancing their skills and preparing them for future careers in media and entertainment 🎥
A Hands-On Business Lesson for Year 12Our Year 12 Business Pathway students gained valuable insights into influencer marketing and the role of talent in a commercial pitch through a challenge set by Global's commercial talent team. They pitched their ideas on which talent would best represent the client for three live briefs. The three-week project culminated with students presenting their ideas at Global HQ, providing them with real-life industry experience. This hands-on project not only enhanced their understanding of the commercial pitch process but also helped them develop crucial presentation skills. The winning team’s innovative campaign earned them an invitation to further develop their concept at Global HQ. |
We are excited to share the remarkable achievements and experiences our students have had this half-term. These projects and initiatives highlight our dedication to delivering a world class education to kickstart the careers for our students for success in the creative media industry.
We are eager to explore future collaborations and opportunities to amplify our impact. If you’re interested in partnering with us or have any questions, please get in touch!
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
